The Gorge of Sirikari or Sirikariano starts at the village of the same name, 17 km south of Kissamos, and concludes at the area where ancient Polyrrhenia was built. It stretches through a densely vegetated setting of giant chestnut, plane, wild olive and carob trees, small waterfalls and scattered about streams. It spans more than 20 km, with alternating width and frequently hard to cross places of steep ground. A plethora of birds lighten up the area with their music and nature weaves an assortment of herbs and trees on its green canvas. Lately, it has been designated as National Park.
